Warcraft (2016) is one of those movies that a lot of people still haven't watched, and honestly, I think more people should give it a chance. It's based on the Warcraft game series, and it's available in English and multiple other languages.
I always try to recommend movies and series that people may have missed, and Warcraft is one of them.
The story takes place in a fantasy world where humans are already struggling after years of war and powerful magic. Things get even worse when a race of powerful green warriors arrives from another world using dangerous magic and looking for a new home.
With their incredible strength and magical abilities, defeating them seems almost impossible.
What happens next is something I think fantasy fans will really enjoy.
The biggest strength of Warcraft is easily its visuals.
Even today, the movie looks impressive. The CGI, creature designs, magical effects, large-scale battles, and fantasy environments all hold up surprisingly well. Every location feels like part of a real fantasy world, and you can tell a lot of effort went into bringing that world to life.
The action scenes are another highlight.
There are plenty of large battles, powerful magic moments, and exciting fight sequences that keep the movie entertaining throughout.
I also liked how much attention was given to the world itself. The different races, cultures, and conflicts make the story feel bigger than just a simple good-versus-evil battle.
The movie also has more emotional depth than I expected. There are several moments that add weight to the story and make the conflict feel more personal.
One thing that disappointed me, though, has nothing to do with the movie itself.
The ending clearly sets up a sequel.
When I first watched it, I was excited to see where the story would go next. Unfortunately, that sequel never happened, and that's still the biggest downside of Warcraft.
The movie leaves you wanting more, but there isn't another chapter waiting after it.
Still, that doesn't change the fact that Warcraft is a very entertaining fantasy adventure.
If you enjoy fantasy worlds, magic, large battles, and visually impressive movies, I think it's definitely worth watching.
Rating: Recommended
