I didn’t expect this movie to feel this personal… but it actually did
And a biopic on Michael Jackson was always going to be difficult to pull off.
I watched the Michael movie in theaters — in English — and honestly, I don’t think watching it in any other language would hit the same. His aura, his voice, his presence… it just connects better in the original.
What surprised me first wasn’t even the movie.
It was the audience.
I didn’t expect so many people to show up for this. But the theater was filled with people who were genuinely enjoying it — not casually watching, but actually feeling it.
And that already told me something.
This isn’t just a movie… it’s an experience for people who grew up with him.
For me, it hit a bit personally too.
Back in my teenage days, the first foreign album I ever listened to was Michael Jackson’s. And not just once — I had it on repeat.
Even today, his songs and dance moves are everywhere. Every dancer, in some way, has tried to copy that style.
But this movie isn’t just about that side.
It tries to show what was happening behind all of it.
His childhood.
His family.
How the Jackson family rose… and how things changed over time.
How he became what the world calls “the King of Pop.”
And what that journey actually cost him.
And one thing I really liked — the casting.
His role is played by his real-life nephew, and honestly… it’s almost scary how accurate it feels.
Same look, same energy, same dance style, even the voice feels close.
At some points, it genuinely feels like you’re watching Michael himself.
But here’s the thing…
This is a music drama biopic.
So if you’re expecting a typical fast-paced, masala-style film, this might not fully work for you.
And I’d also say — don’t depend too much on critics for this one.
A lot of people gave it lower ratings mainly because the story doesn’t fully conclude here. It clearly feels like there’s a second part coming.
And honestly, I’m okay with that.
But I do hope the next part shows everything — not just the good side.
Because in this movie, you’ll notice something…
It presents Michael in a very positive light. And maybe he was like that in real life too. But the controversies, the darker discussions around him — they’re not really explored here.
If those are shown properly in the second part, then it will truly feel like a complete biopic.
That said… I was still satisfied.
The acting is top-notch. Especially for a first lead role, the performance feels incredibly polished.
There are also a few emotional moments that really stay with you.
There’s one scene from his childhood — with his father — that honestly hits hard. And there are a few more moments like that which just quietly break you from the inside.
Now realistically speaking…
Since this movie isn’t based on an Indian artist, it might not create massive hype here.
But if you know even a little about Michael Jackson… or you’ve ever felt his music…
You’ll probably connect with this.
It’s the kind of movie you can even watch with family. And if English is a problem, subtitles are there anyway.
For me, this felt like a tribute more than just a movie.
Not perfect… but meaningful.
Now I’m curious…
Do you think biopics should show everything — even the uncomfortable truth…
or is it okay to focus more on the positive side?
If you’ve already watched this movie, tell me honestly — did it meet your expectations or not?
